Ghost shrimps can keep them under control, not totally wiping them out though.

really??? they eat their eggs?
One of my feeder shrimps attacked a snail that I was going to remove.
It used its pincers to flip the snail and then dug in the flesh to feast. Now my one-foot tank is cleared of snail but has a BBA problem!

They eat the snails and leftover fish food. As for eggs? I am not sure.

ghost shrimp... is it those that you feed to LH and Arowana??
they just attack smaller snail? will get some to control the snail . thanks guys
Ian from Kingfisher (see LFS list) recommended me his sparkling gourami. According to him, the sparkling gourami will also eat snails in the aquarium. I bought two such gouramis and have yet to see them eat any snails, but then again my tank has no snails!
He said he got the info from another hobbyist who saw the sparkling gourami eating snails. Recently I have been picking small snails from my 4 outdoor ponds and putting them in my tank on weekends, as *treats* for my puffer and my sparkling gouramis. The snails are nowhere to be seen in under an hour.
my apistos ocassionaly suck snails. but, the snails in my 4 footer are very huge. so, removing them after algae problem is gone.
I would have no snails in my tank.
My 2ft tank was once invaded by snail - hundreds of them. Since that incident, I never bought plts from that lfs that sold "plts packaged w snail eggs" again. I would turn off the lights (while I'm still wide awake) to fool them out and then fish them out w nets.
To me, snails are more of a devil than an angel. Some people would suggest that clown loaches are good snail buster, but my experience had shown otherwise. Clowns that they are, they would swim past and poke fun at the snails only to befriend them later. Maybe they are racist creatures and would behave differently w different sp of snails
I've heard that clown loach can get rid of snails too. Just use puffer la.
How about badis badis? Do they feed on snail. Their mouth seems kind of small to fit into them tho.
cigar fish also consume snails too!
