Hi all, my very first post here. Just to share my shrimp tanks.

I have 2 tanks, custom made, placed in a 'L' shape configuration on my L shaped study table (yes, it is no longer able to sustain long study hours for me. Distraction. )

    First tank:

    100cm x 20cm x 30cm
    neocaridinas
sakuras (started off with 10. but it slowly became close to 300 now, including shrimplets. these maniacs breed viciously.)
I have blue rilis, red rilis, orange rilis, blue pearls and snowballs in there too.

    second tank:

    130cm x 20cm x 30cm

    substrate: ada amazonia

This is quite a complicated tank. It's a planted tank, with ada amazonia, but at the same time possesses water parameters that sustain sulawesi habitat.

    Water parameters:

    GH 6
    PH 7

    Inhabitants:

    ~20 caridina dennerli
~17 tangerine tiger shrimps (2 berried mums)

Yes the sand do get brown and become unsightly overtime. What i do is i remove the topmost layer of the sand with my gravel cleaner when i clean up the tank.

It goes between 24-25 degree Celsius. Not the optimum temperature for sulawesi shrimps but they are definitely doing fine after almost 2 months now. I have yet to find a female cardinal shrimp so i have no idea how this temperature affects their breeding cycle.

Haha yes they did interbreed. I do have some brown shrimplets now, which i supposed is due to crossbreeding. But only around 7-8 brown shrimplets.

Do not think your temperature a problem here, the lakes that the cardinals are living are very deep, I believe the temperature are around there too. Just that I was wondering if the tangerine tigers that you have in the same tank can survive if you keep in ambient temperature.

Once the cardinals get used to the water condition, they will start to breed. Since you have 20 cardinals, the chances you have 1-2 females will be high. However, if they unable to adapt to the water condition fast enough, you will find them slowly dies off.

Wish you best of luck for your cardinals

Unfortunately, I have zero female cardinals. I purchase them off the shelf at a lfs, but I only manage to get males. Well, i hope to get a couple of females soon.

The tangerine tigers have been in there longer than the cardinals and have been breeding since then. So I am not so worried for them.

There is this one thing I'd like to mention here though. Many think that these shrimps are extremely vulnerable etc. However, I personally feel that they are hardier that you think they are. Most of these cardinals are captive bred, probably for many many generations. Depending on the breeders, whether they followed strict sulawesi parameters, but most of the time I feel that the generations of breeding allowed these shrimps to accept a wider range of water conditions.
