Need help ID puffer fish

Hi all bro, recently got 3 puffer fish and really need some too to help ID them.

2 piece is quite small 1-2" red eyes and red tails. Marking on body not very obvious but smooth - black based.

1 piece is also 1-2 " red eyes but white spotted tail. Body have white camo like pattern. Base color also black.

Bought all as red eye puffer .

Your first 2 piece are likely Carinotetraodon irrubesco, the last piece should be a female Carinotetraodon salivator, based on your description. I'd suggest that you upload the pictures to a photo hosting site like Photobucket, and post it here again.

Dont mind i ask a few questions?
1) i have read up about both species, they are all 100% fresh water right?
2) may i ask how did you know the Carinotetraodon salivator is a female ?

Sorry for double posting - i would also appreciate it any bro has any idea where can i get the above mentioned species, as i would like to have more of them.

The lfs i went to, is already sold out.

Site by Michael Lo, a naturalist from Sarawak. You can see pictures of the male and female C. salivator in the pictures.

Dont mind me asking - you have any idea any LFs sell these? I mean its the puffer seasons now.. And they are hard to come by..

I have not seen red eye puffers for sale lately. Not even at C328. I used to find them every now and then but no longer. You can try those shops that deal in monster fish etc.

By the way i bought mine recently from wu hu.. After 2 days the whole batch mysteriously bought by other peeps..

Well we have puffer lovers locally. In fact I like the small dwarf puffers but because I cannot give them a species tank to thrive in, I don't keep them lest they nip the fins of my other fishes. Did not see red eyes at the CCK LFS either and I don't think I saw any at Polyart or C328 lately. Have you tried Y618 or the LFSes at Serangoon North?

Havent check out Serangoon north and Y618 yet, but i sweeped a shipment of 5 pieces from this LFs at kovan ... Still looking for more, cause a bro just donated a 2x1.5ft tank to me... And its huge with just 5 puffers in it...
