i think it is Cyperus helferi too. it didn't live long in my tank though, leaves started to turn yellow, lost them and then died. my suspicion is that this plant is more terrestrial than aquatic.

    Can explain what is terrestrial?

What is the conditions of your tank?
like the lighting, CO2 level and the nutrients you used?

    Thks.

the mentioned plant is a marsh plant, which means, they can grow out of the water too.

Most marsh plants, looks totally different in different conditions, such as emersed and submerged.

If you go to Ah Pek's Farm at lor halus, there are quite a bit of them in a cement pool near the big pond, all almost 3ft tall.

by terrestrial i mean living on land, or at least the leaves are above water.

my tank lights 2 watts per gallon, diy CO2, i forgot which fertilizer tablets i used for the roots, and sera liquid fertilizers.

wish you luck with this plant. it wasn't expensive when i bought them, i think something like $1 or $2 per pot, at serangoon north.

I have lots of Cyperus helferi growing emersed in my big styrofoam boxes. They propogate by sending a shoot out and a small plant will grow at the end of it. it is much like Echinodorus but it does not flower.

it can be grown submerged. Usually people like to place it at the filter outflow as it sways beautifully in the water. Loves bright light. Other than that, I do not really find it a demanding plant. However, it is a slow grower and can be prone to the occasional BBA.

    Thks for sharing your experiences.

    driftw00d,
Only $1-2 per pot, so cheap.
I bought it for $5 at C328. Maybe there are more in a pot.

Slow grower, that is what i like.
    Less trimming and messy.
Used to try vals and it is hard to control.

One more thing, is this plant is a runner?
Or it grows shoot as you mentioned?

    Thks for sharing.

Chua: i bought mine over a year ago, possibly 2 years ago, so the price then could be different compared to now. since this is a slow-growing plant, it might also explain the higher price. and yes mine could have less plants per pot.

Checkerboard: it's fantastic to hear that you are successful at growing this plant. it's a truly beautiful plant, i like it very much. just didn't grow in my tank.
