    Hi,

I'm relatively new to keeping plants. Tried it few months back but was invaded by snails and hair algae (Had lights on for 12-14hours and without co2), its a 3ft wall mount tank - about 7 Gallon of water at max.

I just rescape the tank and wants to do it right this time. Added pressurized co2, that switch on an hour before lights are up. Read online that some recommend rotation lighting method, some suggest 8-10 hours continuously as the plants have their own bio-clock which they "open/close clover" etc.

Need advise on which would be the better option of the two to promote healthy growth?

Rotation timing? you mean siesta? Siesta is good for low tech tank where you did not inject CO2 into your tank. The off time will give CO2 time to accumulate. If you inject CO2 the it does not make any different, just make sure your light less than 10 hrs a day.

Algae is not cause by light alone, you need to see the balance of your tank.

I see, meaning if I want to enjoy my tank when i'm home after work. I should start the lighting around 12pm - 10pm with co2 injection starting an hour earlier?

    That's true,

Keep observe if your tank position has possibility to receive external light source, like morning sun ray, ceiling light etc. That might kick them into photosynthesis period, while your solenoid is yet on.

The wall mount tank is very shallow, about 4-5" in depth.

    Pardon the lousy photo...

I noticed hair algae growing on the fissenden... I reckon its were in the loose form when I got it.

Read online that EI method might help, thus started it. Hopefully will have the hair algae under control.
