Rare fish, seldom seen, perhaps first time seen in Singapore. Good for a characin fan but if you think it's too expensive, don't buy it. I would buy these if I was a characin freak, but alas I am not.

Fish.. Simply Irresistable

Its pity. Singapore do not have a market for nice rare fishes like tucano.
Our aquarist needs to abandon is this ideal of "要新鲜"又"要便宜"“. With this attitude, our hobby will never progress as a whole and only revolve around fewer and fewer species.
I believe any rare fish can be brought in at an preimer price and finding the LFS that is willing to do so, provided AVA or any government agency allow it. This will mean abandoning the idea of "要新鲜"又"要便宜"“. Looking at other threads and other hobbist websites, many singaporean do.

Good to know, I thought i was crazy, I bought 7pcs...
You aren't crazy however. Compare to the prices some people pay for other fish, arowanas included, $35 each is not crazy.

Now this is crazy. ha ha and funny.

You should try breeding it to "even out the cost". From what i read online, you will get an interesting surprise!

Pound for pound, it's more expensive than your arowana
Haha. You two are crazier then me! I only got 6! They are interesting lively fellows.
Anyway they are all gone now. Was at GC at today and someone took the last few the night before.
'From what i read online, you will get an interesting surprise!' => Yea the babies will look like green neons
Just out of curiosity what are you using the feed these fishes?
They seem to take anything. They take the normal food I feed my other fishes. From NLS food to sera o-nip
Thats good hope we can somehow breed this fish.... by the way anyone was fortunate enough to get the tiger otos? Heard from Ron someone took 20+ pieces at one go.
Fiesty fellas, mine take nls too, wonder if they are wild caught or F1s...

Yeah, i was also planning to get the orange otos to create a breeding group too... got my tank all set up, then heard from GC that someone bought up their entire tank of 20+ orange otos all at one go!
Got a feeling that buyer is also looking to breed the orange otos too. Can't imagine anyone using so many $28 rare otos to help clean algae... $1-$2 common otos can easily do the same job.
Nearly thought I miss the the Tiger Oto again...
Went to GC when the Orange Otos just arrived, and still in the recovery state... Nearly wanted to bring 2 home, but thought better let them settle down first...
