    noob question:

    for white spots, what kind of salt can I use? the general cooking salt or must use aquarium type of salt?

    You should use salt without additives, cooking salt might some iodine in it so not as suitable... you can get small packs of freshwater aquarium salt from most LFS, those will be safe to use.

    Before you use salt, be certain that your fauna are not salt-sensitive. That being said, I used marine salt in a lower dose in the past, along with heat treatment. Other than that, I just rely on methylene blue or malachite green-based medications.
