Looks like fungus to me...normal if your driftwood is not dried "sufficiently".
You can take it out and wash it, or put in some cheap and hardy shrimps to "get rid" of it. If you do not wanna keep shrimps, the first option is easiest.

Hi folks,
I've being cycling the tank for 1 week, and now I notice these slimy substances appear on my driftwood. Are they algae or bacteria? Any way to eliminate it?
- 1.5 ft tank
- 11w PL (10hrs per day) *reduced to 8 hours after noticing this slime substances.
- ADA aquasoil
- CO2 1 bps
- currently nvr put any liquid fert yet.

Thanks. I don't think I can remove the dw. I hope my 2 Yamato shrimps can eat them.I searched in google and some ppl said that the slime is the bacteria built up (may happen on some dw). It will disappear after some time. I hope it's true too. Hehe

Yes, it will disappear after awhile. Took about 1-2 months as it moves from one part to another and eventually clears completely.

Thanks man. At first I tot its algae. Give me a shock and I reduce the lighting to 7 hours. Now I'm adjusting back to 8hours.

Don't worry about algae, concentrate growing plants and algae will dissappear slowly...however some algae are quite beautiful, i am trying to grow some of them(ot, sorry)
