There's been a recent outbreak of black-brush algae (BBA) in my shrimp tank. I have tried to reduce it by removing them and have also introduced 2 otos in the 2x1.5x1ft tank. However, the BBA seems to come back each time and more aggressively.

Are there any suggestions with regard to dealing with BBA in a shrimp tank given that shrimps are more sensitive to additives, etc.

I dont think Otos will touch BBA at all..

There is a way (which i can think of at the moment), i have done this last time before in my shrimp tank but right now i totally ignore BBA outbreak..
You can try squirting Seachem Excel directly on the BBA with a sryinge. Excel is liquid carbon supplements for plants, at low dosage they should not harm your shrimps at all.. When you inject on the BBA, they should change in color to a little reddish brown, then your shrimps might go and eat them up.. But honestly speaking, if your shrimps are doing fine, then i would not advise you to do anything.. If it is too unsightly, then you can try to use a plant tweezer to pluck them out, if they are growing on leaves of plant, then just trim the leaf away..

    Hope this helps in anyway...

It's just unsightly given that the BBA is on some parts of the soil.

Would having a fast growing plant help? I have mosses, mini-pelia, mini-fissidens, moss balls, mini-nana and hornworts in my tank
