any ideas?
Hi all,
I have a 50 cm tall tank (45cm water column height)
it is non chilled, temperature ranges from 28 - 30 degrees on non hazy days.
CO2 at about 2 BPS.
adequate lighting (based on observation of growing stem plants).
I have a piece of drift wood (about 35cm tall), placed in the center of the tank. it divides the water flow. in front of it is where the water flows left to right, at the back, the water flows right to left (back to intake)
To the rear of the drift wood is empty.
When the water flows through the rear, the water actually pushes the taller stem plants (cabomba, hygrophila, water wisteria). Making them sway very badly to the right.
The 3 plants mentioned above are planted to the rear left of the driftwood.
I am looking for recommendations for a plant that has a nice crown, tall (about 35-40 cm) and is stiff enough to cushion the flow. So that the rest of the plants do not get swayed.
Any recommendations?
any ideas?
You can try Hygrophila corymbosa or other hygrophila species. If not mistaken they all are stiff stem
Thanks shadow, will look into that plant!
I am balding but i am still young!
Hygrophila sp. 'Pinnatafida' also can try, quite nice
From what I read off the net, it requires some chilling. My tank is non chilled. Avgs about 29 degrees. So from the reads is that my tank cannot take the plant..

Wonder if anyone has experience with this plant in Singapore climate?

Alternanthera reineckii is reasonably stiff. and it's giving good red contrast.
As bro Shadow mentioned, your best bet are the hygrophilas. You can try hygrophila balsamica, one of the thickest, sturdiest plant stems around..
