    Hi.

I read from the following thread http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpBB...ic.php?t=18408
and found that the following fishes school well.
    1) Harlequin Rasbora
    2) Penguin Tetra
    3) Rummy Nose Tetra

I would like to know if the cousin of 1) Lambchop Rasbora (smaller and orange version) schools too.

What about barbs? Do they school too?

Lastly, how to we differentiate between five bands and six bands barbs. They look the same to me. I think the number of bands are the same as well.

    Thks.

The five-banded barb Puntius pentazona has a black spot under the dorsal fin, whereas the six-banded Puntius hexazona does not. Depending on which group of researchers you choose to follow, both fishes are classified under the genus Systomus with stricter taxonomic traits than Puntius.

The Systomus hexazona is native to Singapore whereas the Systomus pentazona is not. Note there are some confusion in the literature, notably the Science Centre booklet on Singapore Freshwater Fishes, regarding the identify of the Systomus hexazona. It states that the new name for this fish (six-banded barb) is Puntius johorensis. This is incorrect, caused by a confusion because the juvenile Puntius johorensis has vertical bands which turns into horizontal stripes as it grows up.

BTW where did you see the six-banded barb?

Thks hwchoy for the clear differentiation between five and six banded barbs.

But do barbs and Lambchop Rasbora (smaller and orange version) school well.

    Anybody try them before?

    Thks.
