    Hi All,

Finally all the BBA are gone and now I am trying to replant some of the plants.

What should I do after the replant other than doing a water change to remove the fert. that escape from the gravel ?

Should I start dosing immediately after replanting ??

    I have a 3ft x 1.5ft x 2 ft tank.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

    go down the list again.

    Light-->CO2-->N,P,K-->TE

ensure all these are in good range.

    Cheers!

And how to ensure those are in good range? Test kit? Which are the most reliable ones?

kH and pH test kits are must to determine your CO2 - shot for 30ppm
    N-5-10ppm
    P-0.5 - 1 ppm
    K - 30 ppm
light - 3wpg for high light plants.
TE - dose according to instruction
    50% weekly water change.

i am using sera kh test kit and ph test pen. test pen will give me up to 0.1 interval.

Lookup on the sticky which Tom Barr has posted. I am following that.

    Hope this help.

You will want to add nutrients right away.

    I'd add:
    15mls of traces
    KNO3, 1/2 teaspoon
    KH2PO4, 1/8 teaspoon

Add the macros the same day of the water change, then every other day there after.

Add the traces the day after the water change, then every other day thereafter.

So you add the macros on day 1, traces day 2, macros on day 3 etc.......

This method works very well and is easier for many than doing 2-3x a week.

If you want to do 3x a week, that is fine also.

A large weekly water change takes care of the excess byuild up and the frequent dosing prevents anything from running out.

You can add the amounts here and there to conserve more, tweek the routine for your tank's needs, but this will get you most of the way there.

Main thing is to really be sure about the CO2.

    Tom Barr

    Tom :

My tank is 6'x2'x2' , around 4 " of gravel.
I am changing water 25% every wednesday and Sunday. Is it too frequent ?
If according to your alternate dosing day of trace and macro, what should be the required dosage PPM for NO3, PO4, K, and the trace elements (FE EDTA, Mn, B, Zn, Cu, Mo) for my tank parameters ?

    Please advise and thanks !

    25% 2x weekly is fine.
I like more once a week but this works out fine also.
It's not too frequent as long as you add back the nutrients you remove.

For a 180 gal tank, I would first and foremost make sure I have enough CO2 and about 700-900gph of canister or 1000gph of sump filter moving through the tank evenly with spray bars etc.

    For KNO3:
2 teaspoons 3x a week or everyother day
KH2PO4, about a little less than 1/4 teaspoon 3x a week or everyother day.
Traces, about 40-50mls everyother day or 3x a week.

    Add GH if needed.

    Prune often.

    Tom Barr
