You got the spelling right for Riccia, but you got Amano wrong :_
I believe, there are still available, but since they are high maintenance, most aquascapers will move away from them.
They grow fast and you have to trim and re-tie them.
Hi Everyone
Has the fashion for Riccia faded? It once was such a craze that almost every tank is either Glosso or Riccia ( I think due to Anano) years back. I still do see Glosso.....but Riccia is totally out?
Hope I got the spelling right...

...I don't remember it being difficult to remove ...but then again Riccia and I don't mix well and does not do well in my tanks then.

I find Riccia nice too. It look nice when it is pearling.
I'm of the view point that Riccia once introduced into an aquarium becomes somewhat a weed. Hard to completely remove and as Simon mentioned, ultra super duper high maintenance.
If I am not wrong Glosso has the same pearling effect? So at the current moment which is the buzz plant at the moment?
I remembered APP aka Ah Pek Plant ( I really like to know it's real common name though) was once a craze....then Xmas Moss...

Riccia is like algae, once you start growing in the tank, you will always find them in the tank.
They can never be removed completely.
APP = Elatine Triandra
Riccia after awhile, they become submerged form and they start growing, intertwining in between your plants and runners. impossible to remove..
Hi bro is riccia really that bad? I still thinking to put in my tank

Riccia is a nice beginner plant which holds on to the pearling very well. It is one of the easiest plants to see them pearling. They do transform into submerged forms over time, and due to the way they grow, they will find themselves through tight spaces and corners, like inbetween the roots of your glosso, HC, and inbetween hairgrass. which makes them almost impossible to remove.
it's good, if you want to be successful in having a nice carpet easily. Just focus on putting those that dislodged and float up into a new mesh.
IMO, 10 times more easy to get a carpet.
Why?
- Growth is very fast. fast very fast. (i think many can vouch for that)
- Amazingly easy to harvest, just net those that floating around the water surface
- Pearls easily when you tie down to a mesh. (Compare to moss, the next all time favorite)
