    I did a search on past threads but nobody mentions anything about this species. Just curious, has anyone seen or kept them before?

    And here's a pdf on Alestopetersius conspectus Mbimbi & Stiassny, 2012;

    Hmm, there were red congo tetras available at JZX pet boutique and Aquahobby some time ago. On jzx it was listed as alestopetersius nigropterus. However I did not see the fish personally and am not sure about the exact species. Anyway the two links of their stocklists are below:

    Reading of the Alestopetersius brought back memories of breeding the Alestopetersius caudalis [yellow tailed congo tetra.it had a very smart extended dorsal fin and caudal showing vivid yellow and darker lateral lines,it bred very much the same as the ordinary congo except that the eggs were slightly smaller but swelled up far larger than the congo.\the fry were extremly small and feeding them a problem,I raised about 15 up to young adulthood,up until about five months they were quite clear in their fins.I wonder if anyone has seen them in recent years.Jimlen
