Hi, I noticed that the leaves of my E tennelus have turned a rich bronze colour on the top surface. Underneath, it is still green. Initially, I thought that those leaves must have died (just planted the tennelus 3 weeks ago). However, till this day, the leaves are bubbling, so it can't have died but more and more leaves are turning bronze. In fact, a runner that is sprouting out is also bronze in colour.

I am not familiar with growing tennelus. I chose it as I wanted a short green field of "lallang" on the front of the tank. Now, I am having a bronzed lallang field (although the colour is very attractive, it unfortunately is not what I planned for).

Is this normal for tennelus or am I deficient in something?

    Warm regards,

    Lawrence

    Normal.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Too much light, reduce the lighting wattage and they will turn back to green.

It is true that by reducing the light, your e tenu will become more green.

But i will not advise you to do so as it may affect other more light demanding plants. E tenu is actually a low light demanding plant.

Not only that it is normal, but I will say your tennelus is very healthy in order to acheive this colour.

your subtrate is rich in IRON that why the e. tenullus turns brown. You can control the color by controlling it iron intake.

No, it is not the iron that cause the brownish colour. You also cannot control the iron dosage. If iron goes too low, you will get yellow leaves instead.

Thanks for all your responses. I'll move some floating plants above them to reduce the amt of light getting to them. Glad that this bronze is a reversible colour.

    Warm regards,
    Lawrence
