Japanese Hairgrass

Hi experts,

I would like to know the type of ferts/ nutrients I should add on on a regular basis and the dosing methods for my Japanese hairgrass to grow and carpet well.....

Hair Grass, like any root feeders needs to have a good layer of base fertilizer before the substrate. Next is the planting...avoid stuffing the whole bunch of Hair Grass into the substrate. Instead plunge it in stalk for stalk in a close formation (Yes, its back breaking work but it will pay off over time).

You need a good amount of light to reach the bottom, good water circulation and CO2 injection is required. They do not really need much water column fertilization.

They do well in cooler water....

PS: I forgot....plunge it in by gripping the tip of the root using a tweezers. give it a slight yank upwards till the tip of the white portion of the HG can be seen... this helps to position the roots downwards. If they are set too deep, it will rot.
