What about the flow of your filter? It plays a part too
Cant say much about the filter though....how should I set it?

It's a 1-watt led, low tech plants are the only ones you can go for..
If there is a light source to the front of the tank, plants are starting to lean towards it.

Is your tank the type with 30cm x 30cm base area and 50cm height, sort of like a tall "tower" style tank? I saw those at East Ocean before, very interesting shape.
If that is your tank's design, then the current LED lightset you are using is probably not strong enough to get light down all the way down to the plants. Such tall tanks would usually do best with higher powered LED lights which use 3W LEDs with additional optic lenses for extra depth penetration.
felix_fx2 made got a good point about the possibility of another light source in front of your tank (maybe from a window or doorway) that may have more light than the lightset above, hence those plants lean towards the brighter light source.
In that case, since your tank is 30cm height, then you have more choices in lights... not as necessary to use those high powered ones.
8 watts of light seems abit low for a 50cm x 30cm base area though, perhaps consider upgrading to around 20+ watts (ie. Up Aqua Z-Series Pro LED 60cm version, can just adjust the light supports abit narrower to fit the tank)... that should give you a good amount of light to grow most plants, yet not too much until its overkill and create balance issues.
If you need more light or more coverage, can also add a 2nd set too. I've used them successfully in similar sized planted tanks.
