is HC also called pearl weed?
Just a student with no income but a great passion for aquatic life.

think "pearl weed" (literally in mandarin) refers to glosso.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

'Pearl weed' I think is refering to MM. Glosso is called 'Ai Zeng Zhu'.
HC needs high light (3wpg) and CO2. make sure you don't have SAE or flying fox in the tank. else, your HC will start floating on the surface.
Just my 2 cents!
I've some hard time trying to plant the HC into the gravel, as they are quite small and hard to make them rooted.
HC is quite a beauty when it grow very dense.
thanks Heuer for the advice.
Heard from the lady boss of Far East that HC have deep roots and will not get "detached" from the gravel easily once it is rooted.
What I did was, I 'dismantled' the stainless steel mat (which I got from a hardware shop) and with that strip of wire, I 'stapled' a bunch of HC into the gravel. Do not staple too thick a bunch or the inner/bottom most will rot. And from my observation, snails, SAE and yamatos will welcome that 'new spread of veggi on the buffet set'.
Oh yes, one more thing, it propagates real slow...
Hammy, you idea was quite good.....didn;t even think of that.
I simply try to plant it down and use some gravels to lay on top of it preventing it to float.
I read that got pple grow HC on pebbles or even stainlesss steel mat or even on wood.
Has anyone try some of the methods?
I'm trying them emersed and they seem to be coping better. Ironic? Ahahah... Oh well, they'll add to my paludarium...
where else can i get HC besides Teo's cos its too far for me alrdy..
