I was in a shrimp shop in hanoi just now and guess what i saw :

Its a DIY surface skimmer!!!!

Haha... that was what I am thinking too. I recall might have an extra Exo terra repti clear F150 lying around. But to think of it, I do not recall myself having oil firm and dust particle problems now. Hmmmm.... perhaps a project to get myself ready for problems to come.

can buy from china online shop. Actually just need the acrylic section powerhead (the one in picture is AT301) around 10-15 bucks..

It is not bulky, about the size of a namecard only! Bought it for only $12.

Interesting... its a much cheaper alternative to the ADA VUPPA-I.

Oh... That is an over-priced gem. But to think of it, ADA is really quality stuff. You are paying premium for the style. If I have got spare cash, I wouldn't mind an all ADA setup. With ADA, I believe things hardly go wrong.
