Describe your problem : hope expert can share their fertilizer regime. I try to study tom barrs EI...maybe I not gifted in science. I just reset my tank today. filter just wash with tank water. just rescape with rocks and glosso. last round I plain lazy , never change water. was hit with worse hit of algae ( BBA, hair..) tear down my hair grass scape. ( use ADA brightly K and bw growth for P - 1pump per day) . is it enough? I thinking of buying lushgro aqua , saw use 5 drops per week ? anyone using this fertilizer regime , can share how u works without algae bloom . thks in advance. I gave in while I saw BBA. they are my worst enemy----------------------

don't give up man, here's my weekly and daily fert regime:
weekly, after wc: Lushgro micro and macro 5 drops each, seachem phosphate 1 cap full.
daily before I go work at around 10am+: 2 pump of ada green bright lights, 4 pump of Borneo wild growth, 1 cap full of excel.
running green element mhx from 5pm-2am and about 2 bps. got bba but so far it's still under control by yamato and biweekly spot nuking

seachem phosphate is to promote algae for my algae wall, no other intended uses

I have no fish in my tank yet. think lushgro aqua not that enough. currently after WC I pump 5 drops for 3 days. ( Mon, Wed, Fri)
1 pump daily brightly K one pump and BW growth 1 pump .

Is it enough?

Need to verify your lighting, 3.6 Watts for 2.5ft is way to low but you also mention T5x4 so I confuse

May i know what is the substrate used?
if your target is to create a glosso carpet and you have a fertile substrate..

i recommend you to check the lighting (shadow's post) and only dose K.

ohh I think my calculation out. I got 39W t5 x 4 osram 865. last time my soil help. but I restart , I forget name but is green packet for plants and shrimps ($14 from seletar for 3kg) the more I read from internet , the more confused I get.... no wonder I fail my science last time....

Sorry to be so direct but do you know what you are dumping in in respect to your other factors like photo period and water perimeter?

You are pumping in that amount of CO2 and your PH is 7.5? This can only mean that your KH is really high.

Your photo period is 5 hours which I think is way too short.

Your tank has no fish and you add K without N and P?

I am rather confused.

ok bro after doing some research, I borrow a PH test kit and confirm earlier that my PH has changed to 6.0

Tank 160L ,
Lighting 39W x 4 / tank = roughly 3watts per tank size (mid range)

I going to dose lushgro aqua 5ml per (mon , wed , fri)
I going dose lushgro micro or sachem trace (tue, thur, sat) - any suggestion?
Sun weekly 10L water change.
but do not have P in aqua so pray the food in my tank is good enough

Co2 2-3 bpms per sec.
Lightning I will change to 8am-12pm, 7pm-11pm.

any suggestion ? is it better this way? I trying the EI method but lazy way of going liquid fert

You are not a low tech planted tank because of your lights and CO2 injection.

There is no need for siesta. In fact the break is not good... In my opinion.

Knowing your PH is half the story if you do not know your KH. PH and KH determines, or rather indicate the amount of dissolved CO2 in the water.

Google for PH to KH Chart and look at the table.

bro david I put a co2 indicator in and the result is encouraging. I believe the low ph might be due to my new soil

Hi,
The siesta is too long. 12 noon to 7pm is 7 hours between.
Either close up to 2 hour gap, or none at all.

As per my previous message, if your aim is to get a glosso carpet, try not to dose for a week and see if the glosso is spreading without the added ferts.

From the messages replies you gave, may I ask if you have cycled the tank?

hi all,

I just start this new regime after studying through EI report.
(160L tank - 2.5ft)

7Hrs from 7pm - 2am.
mon , wed, fri - lushgro aqua 5ml per day. N still low side as I try on the minimum side testing round.
mon, wed, fri - ada K 5ml for additional K to meet EI per day ( to finish up this bottle & add K ).
seachem P -0.5ml per day (to meet P 1-3ppm per week) as I got 6ottos , 20s red shrimp , 7 nerite snails & one mini puffer for snails(will take out once infestion is over).
Tue , Thur , fri - lushgro micro - 5drops per day. Iron met 0.5ppm
Sun - water change 50% will add 1 spoon of BW GH up after water change.

Last week sunday plant heavy glosso and tenellus iwagumi style. tomorrow will add HC on the mountain top view .
now monitor for sign of algae. glosso growing well but tall due to the fact my tank is long. new leaf out from soil (depth : 49cm). ( light t5 x4 39W) osram 865.
tenellus not growing well, sign of brown/yellowing dying in some of leaves.... going to put jbl fert ball into soil to give it a boast.
last sunday put some BW boast A on the areas of glosso.

any advice from the experts here. I hope to make this a worthwhile learning lesson

co2 2bmps , kh - 2 - think co2 over little bit since co2 indicator show dark green.

I think you can add a little more iron. Tenullus response well to it, trimming it can help it to spread too.

If you are using the standard co2 indicator, also commonly know as the co2 drop checker, the following are the usual colours if you are using the co2 indicator solution from the LFS.

Blue - Too little CO2
Dark Green
Green - Optimum amount of CO2
Lime Green
Yellow - Too much CO2

The chart shown below is follows the colours as mentioned above.

Uncle...do what is comfortable for you. EI method...PMDD ... Which ever method you choose, it's a hobby meant for our enjoyment rather than a chore.

Basically modify which ever method according to your schedule and not the other way round.
