Your temperature is alright for cherry shrimps. I think the fluctuations are normal & manageable.
In fact, shrimps prefer cooler temperatures. Don't add a heater.
Firstly, hello everybody! I'm a new member here 😁.
Please take care of me seniors! And I apologise for this duplicate thread. I previously posted this in AquaTalk and I didn't see this category.
I have a 10G tank, with live plants, 4 guppies, 9 neon tetras, 15-20 cherry shrimps.
My temperature is currently fluctuating between 25-29 degrees and I was thinking if I should install a heater (I do have one in my cupboard) and set it at a specific temp to keep temp stable at all times. Is that a good idea? Or is my fluctuation range acceptable?
Also, what temp should I set it to? I was considering 28 or 30 degree Celsius.
Correct me if I'm wrong please (:
Thanks thanks!

In Singapore, temperature sometimes fluctuates by 5 degrees.
I do not see a need for concern, except...
How fast does the temperature fluctuate? 1 min, 5 degrees?
Too fast, the fauna might not be able to take it.
Typically, if the change is effected in hours, its fine.
I am balding but i am still young!
do cherry shrimps and guppies get along in your tank?
Guppies seem to like algae wafers so its hard to feed algae wafers to shrimp as the guppies will steal them and disturb the shrimp?
Yup hahaha, my guppies don't seem to bother the shrimps at all.
As for food, I do use a plastic dish to feed but the guppies or neons seem to dislike the dish, so my shrimps are happily feeding inside (:

If the temperature change is gradual, like from daytime to night time or if its because you switch on or off an aircon, it wouldn't be a problem for the type of fishes and shrimps that you are keeping.
I guess those fluctuations in day and night temperatures are also what they would naturally experience in the wild too.
