Starting a journal to document this current scape. Initially thought an 'Sanzon' iwagumi would fit perfectly but i'm completely wrong.

Started off like this with the classic 3 stones layout. Then put in my stock of bucephalandra and this happened!

Although it looks rather amateurish but i think it'll be better when the plants mature and grow into it.

    List of equipment:
    Eheim Ecco Pro 200
2L Co2 tank with OF regulator with solenoid
200W Mini Chiller hand carried from HK

Set the chiller at 26°C and it kicks in every hour for 20mins at my ambient temperature of 29-30. Quieter than the dymax mini fan that i was using so its a blessing since the setup is in my living room. Just waiting to see my electrical bill.

I think it is better to call this a bucep tank rather than Iwagumi. You may want to consider adding more rocks for your bucep to clinch on because they spread and send out roots once acclimatised in the environment. Iwagumi plays with serenity, yours plants quantity instead

    Nice setup.

In my opinion, I think the temperature can be set lower than 26 degrees. In a bucephalandra tank, since they are slow growers, algae is likely to appear. I would suggest 22-24 degrees. Check out this tropica website:

bluebubbles: If you looked at my title you would have realised that I have already made the correction. Heh. Deeply poisoned by buceps so heck to the scape, they are the main attraction. haha

yangqian: the mini chiller is TEC and not compressor so it depends largely on ambient temperature or how effective i can cool the 'hot' part. I think 26 is the lowest that it can go for my case because when i put the thermometer right at the outlet when the chiller kicks in its just slightly below 26

Re: Iwagumi gone wrong, Bucep Dream

small tank very difficult to control temperature due to the small volume of water. If tank is bigger maybe it will be lower. maybe. i not sure.

    Nice Setup.

Lol. Sorry thats my way of identifying it. It was labelled brownie helena when i bought it at C328 but has been identified otherwise.

So i took the liberty to name it myself

Re: Iwagumi gone wrong, Bucep Dream

No regrets going high tech for the buceps as i'm seeing more changes in a week than the month that i was on low tech

Check out the new leaf of brownie helena. Its rainbow colored! Haha. But its a new leaf so might still undergo changes

Treat it like anubias as they are the same family. Roots can be in the soil but not the rhizome. Definitely cannot be buried as the rhizome will rot
