You can try the Fishy business showroom at Sims Place or Green Chapter at MacPherson. They both have links in the forum too.
Can also try places like Seaview, Nature Aquarium or East Ocean... they have large crates and boxes of assorted wood with lots of twisty branches too.
Thanks all for the reply. I've been to nature aquarium but I feel the selection is rather limited. Will try green chapter when I get the time!
Yeah, for most of these LFS, it depends on their shipment of wood pieces... usually when new shipments arrive have to be fast to grab, or else end up all the nice twisty ones get taken, left only the short stumpy ones.
Are the prices for the wood at Green Chapter on the high? Looks like an atas place though.
The different types of wood available at GC are generally more expensive compared to other LFS, but the wood quality is also much higher.
GC is probably the most stocked in the different sizes/lengths, their rock collection is also good. Bigger ones need to go to the farms in paris ris and seaview.

Cheap and good, hard to find in our small island... I got some from Green Chapter recently, small piece range from $9-13 if i remember correctly. However a very tiny piece could cost $9 while another piece that is way bigger could cost $9 too. All the wood are tagged, so easy to reference.
I got a very nice piece. Big. Hand carried from Indonesia. Let me know if you interested.

That is a really nice piece of wood!
I think it's about 40cm by 40cm.
Sorry, just a question, woods that are sold in local fish store are man-made or are collected from the wild?
If they are man-made, will it have a negative effect on the plants / aquatic pets?
If they are collected from the wild, will it carry bacteria or germs that will harm aquatic animals?
LFS carry both types... man-made ones are those made of cast resin and painted to look like wood, you can easily see the difference though (i've not seen super realistic ones so far, all tend to look like model/prop pieces), they are inert and have no effect on aquatic flora or fauna.
The real wood LFS sell are all harvested from nature, some are processed and cleaned, while most are just sold as is... they vary alot in quality and characteristics so its worth shopping around to find good ones. They will all usually still have lots of critters and organisms inside, so its always advisable to boil the wood to kill most of the organisms/germs and its advisable to soak them for a period of time to release the tannins too. Most real wood will have a pH reducing effect.
How about those mature DW that comes with tied plants/moss? How to go about quarantine it before introduce to the tank? I only soak it in aged water for 3days, not sure good enough to get rid of parasites.
