yes, if you listen carefully, especially at night, and if you keep a group of them..... they will breed if you have lots of floating plants, where they can have their nest.... I have had fry grow up without me knowing.... the larger T. vittatus croaks much louder but is less colourful, while T. schalleri is sized in between the other two (with colours more akin to pumilus).

I ain't knowledgable.... just read up and search the web, and you can regurgitate half-digested trivia and cut and paste as well as budak...

but Gouramis and Other Labyrinth Fishes, under the Barron's series (found in good bookshops like Borders or Kino) is for about $20 the best primer to this fascinating family.

hmm... pity i dun have floating plants in that tank... but hope that the over hanging leaves on the right side of the tank could provide enuff cover for them to build their nest.... Wish me luck...!!!!

those overhanging leaves should be fine for them..... yours is also the 2nd tank I have seen to have Ottelia alismoides (the plants you have on the left and left-back). They will produce short-lived white flowers.

Yes indeed these are nice but they have a nasty streak as well. Look out for aggression as some will not grow as big as others. I had two that were very nippy fellas. Always keep them in small groups. They feel more secure. They'll breed near the water surface in the gaps amongst the leaves of the plant to the right. With luck, your pumilus population should increase provided there's enough cover and enough food for the fry.

the overhanging leaves forms a safe haven for would-be fish parents. I was looking at cks's tank with the entire top-back thick with stem plants, even growing emersed. Some harlequin frie were taking cover among the plants near surface, interesting sight.

Budak: Which plant is the Ottelia alismoides? Seems like Sword plants and Lotus in the attached picture.

Ottelia alismoides should be the plant in the center, this plant can form curly leaves all over the surface.

I guess it is E. Rose on the right.

I am referring to the green sword plant on the extreme right with narrow and long leaves. I don't think they are E. rose. I wonder if it is E. amazonicus or bleheri ?

My opinion too - quite likely E. amazonicus or E.bleheri.
But can also be the E.uruguayensis as in Teo's 9ft tank.

oh.. i tho the right most is the red lily. That look like an E Rose.

The green ones look like bleheri to me. E.uruguayensis are narrower.

bleheri's pretty cheap compared to some other echis. common too. depending on the price you may have your answer there.
