Hi I'm planning to start a amazon biotope. These are the fishes I'm planning to get:

    2 x angelfish
    8-10 x rummy nose
    5-8 x sterbai corydoras
    1 x bristle nose Pleco

Maybe some pencilfish but I'm unsure if they're compatible with the angelfish

    Would appreciate some feedback bros!

With angelfish you must first understand that there might be losses among the smaller fish, especially tetras. They may look harmless but they just love to snack on tetras like cardinals and neons.

For a typical Amazon set up I would suggest that you keep a pair of Apistogramma with the rummy nose, sterbai and the bristle nose.

Thanks! I'm aware that angels do prey on smaller tetras but I read that rummy noses are big enough to avoid being eaten by them no?

My biggest concern is on the number of fishes as I'm afraid of overstocking the tank

55g sounds pretty much big enough for those fishes
Enough space for e tetras to run away from e angels I guess, but as mentioned, it's definitely not very wise to put small fishes with angels. Unless u purchase rummy's that are big from e start. Even so, angels like to bite

Mmm I see. What kind of tetras would you bros recommend me to get then? I'm guessing pencilfish are out of the question then.

    Big ones? Congo?
But your tank is pretty big and there're only 2 angels, they'll prob hang out together. A small school of Tetras should be able to avoid them I guess? other than occasional casualties.

55 gallon, I assume it would be a 3 footer.
With good filtration you can increase your rummy noses to 20-25
Bigger tetras are somewhere along the line of bleeding hearts, which are safer angelfish wise but they are more boisterous.
With bleeding hearts maybe 15 would be sufficient.
    I guess it's a matter of preference.

    Yes it's a 3 footer. Mmm I'm currently using a eheim 2213 canister filter.

I think I'll just get the rummy noses and wait for them to be full sized before adding the angels..

I would really like some top dwelling fishes but I do not have cover for the aquarium so hatchetfish are out of the question. Any suggestions bros?
