    Hi all,

I'm trying to find a kind of plant that is suitable for use in a tank containing goldfish.

What I've heard is that goldfish will typically reduce "usual" plants to botak in no time, however there are certain plants that tastes horrible to them, and hence the fish will leave them alone.

In addition to that, our aquarium doesn't have a light, so is there a plant that is able to grow in little light?

you can try java ferns, anubias nana, larger variety of echinodorus.

For gold fish, i recommend having no soil. so that leaves ferns and nanas.
I am balding but i am still young!

    Thanks Eric!

These plants won't need any tank lighting? I'll keep an eye out for them next time I pop by C328

Most plants will still need some form of lighting regardless. The only difference is they will melt slowly as compare to other "hight light" plants. If you need something green, throw in a floating hornwort and let your goldfish "play" with it.

It will need lights. They are low light plants. I have some success with java fern with table lamps in my 25 cm height tank.

I've had anubias nana in a tank at my office with just ambient light from ceiling fluorescent lights during office hours, after 6 months it still look the same, didnt grow but also didn't die... almost like a plastic plant.

Depending on how "low" is your light and how constant light is available. Nana may not die but the growth may be very slow or non existent at all. Depends what is your purpose. To grow plant or maintain scape.
