I'm not MH user, but consider ADA guideline , they hang around 30 - 40 cm.
I'm started on new planted tank, it's 60cmX60cmX50cm height.
My substrate is between 7 cm to 10cm high.
It's pretty heavily planted.
I've got a MH light suspended above; 150W…6500K
How high should my might fixture be hung above the water?
Many thanks in advance...

Thanks,
Sorry for late reply…been busy.
Yes, I'm trying a variety of heights; between 20 to 35cm to see the effects. Many variables involved as my substrate is on different levels/heights. Don't have a par meter to calibrate this so I'm hopeful to see if anyone can give me a concrete solution….
Just an update; I finally settled on a height of 34cm from surface of water to about the bulb. Seems to be optimal....got the plants pearling.
Glad to hear that,
Lower down your fixture height little by little, till you found your best position. Starting from 40,38,36,34,etc. every 2-3 weeks like trial n error exercise, sort of.
You may skip this if you really familiar with your fixture character and typical plants demands that you plant for, hardscape, water flow, co2, etc.
Smwhang, please post your topic according to the relevant section. This thread would be moved to the equipment section.
