Your arowana no certificate?
Your arowana no certificate?
Love all,Trust few,Do wrong to none
If u bought it from lfs... Most likely pearl Aro..
If not... Maybe can wait for Ava people to come an Id for u hahaha.
Anyways most wild caught are usually rtg/r2/green?
FAILURE IS THE MOTHER OF ALL SUCCESS
Yup should be pearl arowana also known as jardini arowana. Those arowana can be traded without cert, same for black arowana and silver arowana.
Looks like pearl to me too. Bought from LFS or wild caught?
Alot of these sold at lfs nowadays, its most probably a yellow tail arowana, green, no 2 red, sometimes it can be crossback too.
I have asked lfs why these arowana got no certificate as well, was told the parent arowana fish release the arowana fry in the pond, some rule about ava needs prove of arowana parent fish is microchiped before they can microchip the fry, so these are sold as they are.
For general knowledge...everyone...

i guess they are still considered "illegal"...unless they are the commoners eg. silver /black/pearl
FAILURE IS THE MOTHER OF ALL SUCCESS
there are lots of grey areas too, like electric eels cannot be sold but electric catfish can be sold?
How about bucktooth tetra, these are close relatives of pirahnas.
Even devils catfish are sold in lfs here, though they are endangered in their native land of india.
Our local aquariums have the most variety of species from all over the world. Whats illegal from in one country can be imported from another.

Hi bros. What about this Arowana?
Hi sam, your photo too blur, should keep this juvenile in white tank to enhance its color
Looks like a green, yellow tail right now, if you lucky, may turn out be crossback
Cross your fingers lol

Bro. Yellow tail and.green.is.the lowerest grade?
Why xback and.cannot.be.rtg Ah? How u see?
rtg is red tail gold, but i dun see a red tail on your arowana?
No2 red usually got greenish scales and reddish tail
Left with yellow, green n crossback cause these juveniles looks similar, uniform color on top, center and bottom tail.
But with all the hybrid arowanas out there, its difficult to tell them apart sometimes too

Oh man.. Hope it's xback. But unlikely.the.body like no.shine. Sian
Pump it up with more feedings, dun feed to much mealworms, their contain chitin thats in high amounts cause bloatness in young arowanas, feed mixture of small feeders and bloodworms, two or three feedings a day should be enough. Feed enough for your fish, scoop dead feeders out cause they will foul the water.

If it's a crossback, it'll have a cert and tag as cross back.
And what story about fry released in pond no need tagging.
If RTG and above, need tag. Unless from backyard breeder than different story and considerations alltogether.

Just a question for you, if i buy a arowana from malaysia local fish shop in johor bahru, does it have a tag?

Clarify abit. Only CITES approved farms registered with AVA are allowed to import/export and trade Asian Arowanas.
This means all their aros need to be tagged.
If the farm's breeding stock is not tagged, it's already illegal from the start.
So what story about AVA needing to prove anything.
Cheers,
Melvin Lim
When you hit customs, the police will ask you for cert.
No cert, confiscate and don't know if will have other penalties.
This is because Asian arowana is on CITES list of endangered animals. CITES is an international organisation and AVA's regulations on endangered animals are broadly based on their guidelines.

Melvin Lim
Hi Mod please help to close the thread Thank you!
