Just bought this from Serangoon North today. At first, I thought it was the same as the bolbitis heudelotii I have somewhere in the same tank. On close inspection, it looks like some stem plants tied to a piece of wood. There is no rhizome at all. So this is a bit confuse…the leaves do look like bolbitis though…when look at it carefully, I noticed that the shapes look different from my confirmed bolbitis in the same tank. I was told by this taiwanese lady boss that it is some Japanese fern or something like that, my mandarin is not very good to understand the names of the plants, especially if it is in Chinese! ...

Thank you for those plant gurus here, well in advanced for your help. I need to know how to take care of this plant soon.

Don't feel that way. Its a beautiful plant and there are folks looking out for it. I paid a fair amount of notes for that plant too, never regretted. the leave shape and eye catching colors are great to have.

one red noted or hygrophilla pinnatifida I think is reasonable even slightly cheap. You can grow this in soil or even tied on drift wood similar to bolbitis.

You still can get hold of them. The shop still have a few of those in their front display tank. Very healthy looking.

Oh. I didn't know it can be grown like a normal stem plant, that it can be grown in the soil. Mine was tied to a piece of wood, so it kind of fooled into thinking that it is the bolbitis that I want. Blame it on my poor eyesight. Getting old already....

It is a nice plant with a slight colour of reddish pink if it have the right condition.
$10sgd seem reasonable, they usually sell it around $5 a pot with maybe 3 or 4 stalk in one pot depending on the size.
Its not all bad except the part that you are looking for bolbitis. If you dont like it,you can post it in the market place,
i'm sure there are people who love to have this.

    Hi Jazzyboi,

We bought the same plants from the same outlet you mentioned. Don't despair, they are quite beautiful as compared to bolbitis. The price we paid for this, is so much cheaper than those sold in other LFS. I suggest you untie them from the lava rock and plant them into the soil, otherwise the leaves will melt as the plants tried to find soil to sink its root.

Hey bro, thank you so much for your advice! I will take them out and plant them into the substrates, when I get back home. I had been using high light and plenty of co2 for it to adapt to my tank waters. So far so good.
