    Can someone advise? Cos both of them appeal to me however I read same genus shouldn't be put together

    Yeah, mixing color variants of the same species together will usually just end up breeding mostly offspring in their original natural wild-type transparent color, which ain't too spectacular.

    You can still have both, just keep them separately in 2 tanks... or get 3 tanks and you can try mixing different colors together in the last tank, see if they produce any unique offspring.

    Yup...you will be surprised. I purely mixed only RCS and Yellow Back... The offspring came out with mostly ugly greyish, but a couple of them are like snowball quality, some look orangy and some with a hint of blue hue. (Though in whole, still a ugly bunch)

    That's normal. A bunch of ugly shrimps will show up. It happens to other cross too.
