Hi ppl! Is this tropical fertiliser good? I have been looking for it for quite some time but seems like most places out of stocks.

Looking to get this fertiliser because it seems like a easy to use fertiliser so I can involve my family to help me when im not at home on weekdays Also there seem to be 2 kinds. The premium and specialised 1. My tank currently only has dwarf hairgrass and some blxya japonica. Will the specialised 1 be better as the premium 1 seem to be missing a few ingredients.

It's good but your recurring cost will be high, especially if your tank is 2ft above

Hi agree that the cost will be high. But it seems like the easiest option for fertiliser. Unable to dose the EI method as I'm not home on weekdays.

Is there other brand with good reviews as well?

The Tropica "Premium" fertilizer has all the nutrients required except nitrates and phosphates, it is meant for planted tanks that also have fishes (which are fed regularly), as the nitrates and phosphates are already generated by the fish food and waste.

The "Specialized" fertilizer comes with all nutrients (including nitrates and phosphates)... its meant for planted tanks with very few or no fishes, therefore the extra nitrates and phosphates would be necessary for those tanks. Note that when using this fertilizer, you will need to do regular weekly water changes to avoid fertilizer buildup and flush out the excess nutrients.

So the choice of fertilizer depends on the amount of plant density and bio-load in your tank.

My tank is a 2ft tank and my bioload is 15 tetras, 3 yamato and 2 oto. Plant density is quite low. I only have dwarf hairgrass and blyxa japonica in the tank. Would you guys recommend the specialized fert?

Since your plant density is low and you have fish bio-load in the tank, the "Premium" fertilizer would be more suitable as it'll cover the essential potassium and micro/trace nutrient requirements, but avoid overloading the nitrate and phosphate levels.

Blyxa is really nutrient hungry though. It is likely to suck up all your nutrients as it multiplies and then you may end up with BGA.

EI actually isn't too troublesome. You can mix up your own set of ferts using EI formulas and get your family to dose accordingly. Alternatively, you can use Lushgro Aqua + KH2PO4 to dose EI as well - not as cheap as mixing your own, but probably still cheaper than using Tropica ferts.

Thanks! I already bought the premium fertiliser from c328. Will look how is the results before deciding whethrr to change.

Side question: will stunted plants recover and continue growing? Stunt for a few months already I think.

Stunted is manageable than melt and dying.

    Enjoy the new purchased fertilizer.
