Hi all,
Was delibrating if I should be joining the others and posting newbie tanks... Was kinda afraid to but decided to give it go in-case something happens and I need help from experienced brothers.
To start, this is an office tank. So it is going to be kept as simple as possible.
I already have a 30cm Opae Ulae tank in office, thats why this tank got to be kept low profile, otherwise abit erm...
Tank - GUSH 36x22x26cm
Soil - BorneoWild(BW) Shrimp Soil with BW Minerax (because old sea mud is out of stock)
Filter - Hailea RP-200 (A little bit noisy...)
Light - UP Pro LED N25, 10 hours light from 8am to 6pm, using a timer to auto on and off.
Mineral rocks and a branch - looks quite zen at the moment
Going to add in a Mini Fissiden on mesh and another one on coconut shell this weekend.
Currently have frogbits and salvinia natans floating on top.
That will be all my tank will have. I dont want to have it too heavily planted. I'm leaving the branch bare like this at the moment, i quite like it bare for the algae to grow on.
And of course, will be adding in shrimps once the tank is ready!! Its the shrimps that have me poisoned, starting with Opae Ulae.

nice n simple setup sis!
waiting to see your livestocks
PS: may i know how much and where you got your UP Pro LED N25 lighting from??
Nice tank!
Why not some moss on the branches?
I am balding but i am still young!
@rakurime: Thank you Commandos should be going in on the 3rd week, when I have time to go down to C328, assuming the water parameters are ok.
The light was bought from East Ocean, the price is about the other UP clip on led light on their website, around $2x.
@Eric: Thank you too!
I would like to go for the bare look for now to see how the tank would look like when the mini fissidens are in. Although I am considering and looking for plants (like frogbits) with long roots to tie to the branches. Somehow I dont think frogbits can survive being submerged

It's certainly a bare look . What do you hope to achieve with with frogbits tied to the branches?
I am balding but i am still young!
@limz: yah, thats why I did not even bother to test it out using frogbits, haha
@Eric: Haha, one step at a time, one step at a time.
Willow tree! I am considering either Hygroryza aristata or Utricularia graminifolia, hmm...
I might get Sudo blank fine sand to layer over the BW soil, seeing the soil granules on top just doesnt sit right with me.

Hi sis,
How much you bought your BorneoWild(BW) Shrimp Soil with BW Minerax? What's the volume of it?
agree.. one step at a time.. but.. take larger steps ok? haha
not that you were asking for any advice.. so here goes my unsolicited help.
willow tree, you can actually consider HC as the "leaves". of course, fert dosing needs to increase as the root system for HC was meant for loam.
otherwise.. weeping moss is also viable, but may not "willow" enough.
I am balding but i am still young!
@rakurime: I got the soil at Green Chapter. 5kg packs no more stock, so Ronnie had an opened 8kg pack lying there and poured 3kg out for me. The BW shrimp soil I think you can also order at FreshnMarine, prices you might have to check their websites
@Eric: any advice is welcome I'm still playing around with the idea, but I'm looking forward to the mini fissidens first haha.

I'm not sure if my shrimps are abnormal, but they seems to love hornworts a lot. Even though it's not aesthetically pleasing it could be an alternative since frogbits can't be tied.
I see a potential filter ineffiency problem unless you intent To only house a few shrimp inside this ttank because that filter won't do much justice ><
Good morning all
@Fabian: haha, took a look at hornworts pictures, yup I dont think they are what I am going for
@xconnect: really? I'll monitor it then, if it really cant do the job, then i'll have it changed

Update time
Planted in my flora this morning, after more than a week of leaving the tank as it was in my previous post.
1) Added in mini fissiden on mesh in the front, looks like garden lawn, haha. All tied properly already, just had to place them in, thanks to brother jamesneo But had to shift the branch and tree abit further back so the the meshes can fit in.
2) Tied weeping moss to the branch, really hope they are able to grow nicely downwards.
3) Planted (think i ended up more like using my fat fingers to stuff the stalks into the soil ) the Cryptocoryne parva at the back. Was informed by Ben/MizuWorld that the parva will melt before new leaves grow. Hopefully the new leaves stay short at 2".
Water parameters before the adding of flora:
1) PH - 6-6.4
2) Nitrate - about 5
3) Nitrite - 0
4) KH - looks like 2 or 3
5) GH - 3

After 3 hours, in actual it still looks abit cloudy.

Looking good woah. The lawn is good looking, what faunas are you keeping in this tank
Sent from my HTC Desire 601 using Tapatalk
Always there to help even if i can't i'll try my best to
Nice, would really want to see the weeping moss, mine went crazy and kept growing up instead of growing downwards, unsightly and have to throw them
what a nice layout! do update us another photo after you have added the shrimps =)
My water parameters have been relatively consistent for the past 1-2 weeks.
1) PH - 6-6.3
2) Nitrate - about 3
3) Nitrite - 0
4) KH - looks like 2 or 3
5) GH - 3
I guess its time for the fauna?
If anybody was at C328 this afternoon and saw 2 aunties then haha its me and my colleague. Managed to poison her to set up a 36x22x26cm tank at home. Went down to C328 to get the plants
