Everlance ..u started the ferts dosing straight away when you filled the tank for your Monte Carlo? Can I ask what is your light period and also the co2 reading on dropchecker?

hi legoman, when i filled the tank, i dose only K. only after about a month or two, when nitrate hits 0ppm, i start to dose abit of N and P together with K. my photoperiod is constantly 6hrs. for nano tanks, lighting period should be shorter cause the lights are usually too powerful. co2 reading is yellow green all the way until tank is cycled and livestock is added, then reduce co2 until drop checker reading green. hope this helps

Ok...as I see that you are also using ADA amazonia substrate and setup is almost similar like mine. You can see my thread which I've started.
Pity that algae has also invaded my nano tank but its a good sign that cycling is in progress. I will stick to 30% WC every four days till the water parameters stabilized. The tropica specialised ferts is K only or u r using another fert bottle?

tropica specialized is more of N, P and trace elements. Some people say it does contain K. but since tropica didn't state that, i dose K separately using ada brighty k. some people think ada fert is costly, i agree only if their tanks are 2ft or bigger. for nano tank, one bottle of brighty k can last up to half a year, so i find it ok.

Ok thanks. Now my tank is affected by diatoms, hair algae ruining my tropica mc and I got white thin wriggly worms (2-3) in my tank. Really fustrated with it.

Just to highlight... the Tropica Specialized contains NPK + micro/trace nutrients (its basically the same as the Premium version but with additional N and P included).

Yup...bought myself Seachem Flourish Potassium as well for every two days dosing. U dose the indicated amount daily or separate it to parts for dosing so that you can do it daily?

since now plant density is low, you can dose either half dose or the dosage indicated on the bottle. just don't overdose. hahah...
