Here's my cherry shrimp tank, low tech tank.

Lighting: 18W +11W PL
No Co2
2 PC Fan 24/7
Substrate: Lapis sand & root stick
Fertilizer: JBL Ferropol every fortnight


This tank always get the tint from the driftwood. Its already been 4 months.

I just retied the moss last weekend and planted the E.triandra.

Thinking of starting a non CO2 setup, which never tried before! like to experiment with this relatively small 7inches tank, not too sure whether is it achievable!

no CO2,no filtration, but think getting the right lighting be difficult! have a spare fan to be blowing 24/7, be keeping moss.

Can anyone guide me in setting up?!?! thankx

Please read the title of thread and do a search on DIY CO2. You get a lot of useful discussion from the older threads.

Hi hi, here's a pic of my low maintenance 4ft tank taken recently.

Very low lights - 3*36Watts, No CO2, No fert regime, no filter.
My maintenance? Top up water every 2-3 weeks. Trimming of plants, once every 3-4 months.. Thankfully, I don't have any algae problems, just the usual spots on the glass.

Hello people. Here's my office 2ft tank. No fert no CO2. Only 1x36w. Temp kept low at 26degrees celsius due to office aircon.

Some neon tetras, black tetras, yamato shrimps, a corydorus (my boss calls him dumbledore), a wood shrimp (dunno where he hide to. havent seen him for 3 weeks le), and a puffer fish. I find it an overload of animals, but well, my boss prefers fish, so have to compromise.

No CO2, no ferts, few changes of water, easy to manage!
Lighting: Philips SL E Pro 23W (1425 lm, 10.000 k)
Filtering: Eheim Classic 2213
Heater: Jebo 100w (external) + internal cable under substrate

Flora: cryptos, vallisneria americana, hygrophila polisperma, Microsorium pteropus widelow and normal, aponogeton crispus and Vesicularia dubyana.
Fauna: 22 Trigonostigma heteromorpha, 2 Trichogaster leerii (male & female), some cherrys and yamatos, 1 Vittina sp., 1 Clithon sp., a lot of Planorbis sp
