hee... jus to share... here's my 3ft planted cabinet tank setup....
by the way it's without a Co2 tank yet... cos no $ to get it... so still saving up for it...
meanwhile just concentrating to provide enough lightings for the plants....
welcome to comments!
wow, nice set-up you have, jazzon.
3 aros and 4 altums...nice combi btw.
How old is your tank?
won't tat tank be too small?
3 arowana!
Your tank is definitely too small for 3 aros, you have to get a minimum of 7 footer if you intend to keep them to their adulthood.
yup it's too small for 3 aro but i've seen people keeping 7 la.. anyway i'll make decisions to get a bigger tank for them after they mature...
silver aros are more flexible in movements rather than red/gold aros... so it should be alright... will monitor their growth... the aros are about 3months...
i changed the layout quite a few times already.. the current layout is about 1month plus old... they grow faster cos i have alot o lightings for them... hehe...
thanks betta almighty... but those are not altums la.. hope they were.. one of it does look like altum.. the other 2 are wild angels... one albino angel... quite heavy eaters... so they grew up fast.. haa...

Hi all...
My First Low-Tech Tank... its for my Hairy Puffer... See my Avatar...
Please feel free to comment?!
i. The Sponge on the top left has some moss growing which I am trying to propagate.
ii. The Powerhead on the right is to increase waterflow in the tank, a preference for my Puffer.
iii. The rock on top of the DW... its to keep the DW down... still floats after about a month in the water...
iv. Flora in the tank is mostly Crypts and some nanas
Enjoy!!

Temp is 30-31 Degrees (sweat***) going to source for a quiet fan any recommendations anyone?
with that temp i dun think my japonica can take it... anyway i throw in a cherry shrimp to ...Get* things started... Water and sand all from an existing tank. and filter had been running in that existing tank for 3 days too. hopefully all ok. after this pic is taken.. shifted the left most little rock slightly to the right. and the stem plants all the way to the left with the filter blowing to the left instead to the front.
any suggestions on what fish to keep? i thinking of the bumberbee or something. and of cos.. CRS

Fertilisation
KNO3+KH2PO4+Seachem Equilibrium weekly, based on Tom Barr's Non-CO2 method
Short Story
I tried to make this tank feature narrow leaf java ferns prominently, while having cryptocoryne and hairgrass as supporting elements. The goal was to have a clean, green, lush planted tank, like plants are after a rain in the afternoon. Obviously I've a lot more to do.
It's very much in its infancy being only 2 months old and a non-CO2 tank. There are still processes of emersed leaves turning black and dying while the new submersed leaves are starting to take over slowly but surely. You can see the dead and dying spots, especially so amongst the Java fern Windelov at the sides of the tank. There's a lot of gunk in there.
The white crumbly-looking stones aren't intended to be in the picture, they got pulled up under the substrate when I made this tank and have never bothered to pick them out one by one. I agree that those stones break the picture.
This tank runs on a 36W PL light 9 hours daily, but that's a little too much light and already BBA is showing on the dead emersed leaves. Therefore there is Salvina floating on the top in an attempt to block some light, and should be much more effective after growing lots more. Why do I have BBA due to too much light? I conversed with Tom Barr and I quote him:
Light drives CO2 uptake.
More light=> more CO2 uptake.
Too much light=> too much cO2 uptake, => BBA.
Everyones tanks look so cool. Heres mine 46 gallo bow front wuth center piece. No substrate, co2, ferts and one 40 watt bulb for lighting. Plants are narrowleaf java fern, 3 types anubias broadleaf barteri, petite and nana. Driftwood is from manzanita.com with Taiwan moss attached.
Commentr are welcome.
