Hi Gavan, I haven't put in substrate into my betta tank yet. As my 30G tank dry start may run abit longer than I expected.... but my anabias was doing ok in my previous betta tank with ph around 8

my humble low tech planted discus tank. Not really a walstad method tank but similar. I have 2 canister filters and I perform water change almost daily about 20 to 30% due to the massive feeding for the discus. I only have gravvel in the tank as the substrate. I inserted some cheap lotus root tabs near to the plants at the initial stage and no dosing since then. I started this tank in Feb 2017 without plants but I changed my mind 1 month later as I encountered some water quality issues. It has been 7 months since I added plants, a lot of the plants couldn't survive in this tank but eventually there are survivors.
25L planted guppy tank, 160L angelfish tank, 240L planted discus tank.

Unknown number of mini ramshorn snail and malayan trumpet snails

Plants are mostly java fern in the background, one bunch of Rotala Rotundifolia, couple stalks of Hydrocotyle tripartita, 1 crypt, some pellia here and there , duckweed and frogbits floating on the surface and 3 air plants hanging on the wood above the surface.

Low-tech (non-CO2) tanks post your pics!

Sharing my 2 months old low tech tank! Had experienced with bigger, high tech tank but wanna keep it simple and low maintenance this time round.

I’m having problems keeping CRS as they keep dying on me even with proper acclimatisation. Will try it next time!

Is that Java moss or Christmas moss you're using?

These are Christmas moss, although they don’t look like one. Without CO2 growth is very stringy.

I have recently added CO2. Let’s see how it pans out!
