Hi mariners , planning to start a small scale setup (probably just live corals for now). Been doing up some reading but got confused with the lighting and filtration. My questions is:

    1) to grow live corals, is daylight compact PL sufficient? because i planning to run a 2ft lightset shared between my freshwater setup and marine setup (both are 1 footers)

    2) Is HOF only setup sufficient for such small scale?

Any links or additional reading material is also appreciated. Thanks for viewing!

Can use canister also. Pl lights too weak. Don't waste money. Get a proper setup

yes only for short term, if no fishes just corals - it is ok lah, temporary measures for about a month or so but not for long term.

    Re: Pico marine help?

Probably better for you to get a compact LED, like thishttp://freshnmarine.com.sg/estore/smartphn/product_info.php?products_id=4140&osCsid=7ff2096876d77eab40f372d9331f88 HOF you can run carbon and phosban in it, but you need regular water changes. Your 'filtration' will come from live rock.
