Hi all, I am just starting in this new hobby and have been breathing old forum posts for the last whole week. I had an idea from reading some posts last night in the member tank's gallery and I have went through the forums to check on previous discussions of quarantine methods...

I think it might be a little more expensive but has anyone here considered maintaining a CO2-saturated QT for plants? I like to pick the brain of all the Lao jiaos here.

would the set up be too expensive to run? Would it be worth it? I would think so, since we can set up another diffuser if we already have a co2 set up for the main tank, right?
Is it an effective method? Too much co2 still might not be enough to kill pests?
it should be good for the plants, right? Or would too much of a good stuff also affect the plant?

I don't understand your concept. What type of quarantine are you looking at, i.e. snail removal?

I run a basic 2ft tank which doubles as both fish and plant quarantine/grow-out... and it gets Co2 injection from a splitter system too.

It is kept barebottom with only ADA aquasoil in plastic trays and regular light schedule. The plants are planted in the soil trays, so that if there is any outbreak of disease from the fishes or pests/algae from plants, i can just remove the trays and easily clean and reset the tank.

Cost-wise its just like running another tank (ie. with filter, lights, Co2 etc). I guess it just depends on whether you have spare space to run a temporary tank for quarantine purposes.
