You can just use cotton string, those use for clothes, you can get those at almost any neighborhood shop, even ntuc.

You can also use fine fishing line but in my experience cotton string easier to tie.

If you like branded stuff, you can also use ADA cotton string

I guess I will stick with transparent fishing line. How much does it cost and where can I get them ? (Prefer North region)
    Many thanks.

You can also grab from the your neighborhood handicraft shop (those that sells hairclips/beads for DIY art and craft kind of shop). Easily anywhere around less than a dollar to 2 dollars.

I'm not sure if you guys ever use bobbins to make life easier. I do have contact with fly fishing and I use bobbin with its special spool of fly fish clear line or cotton to tie my moss to driftwood. Have a wide range of diameter for clear lines. Google fly fishing bobbin

There is a fishing gear shop at blk 166 Woodlands St 13, next to the fish shop. You may also want to take a look at that fish shop, very nice plant and helpful shop owner there.
For the fish line, try get the thinnest, I bought 0.3mm dia string there recently, quite cheap in a bobbin.
