    those $1 potted plants sold at c328, are there any hardy low tech ones?

    The majority of those $1 plants are usually the low-demand easier to grow types... that's why they are only $1 each, gives an indication of how easy and quick it is for plant suppliers to cultivate them in mass volumes.

    They are cheap enough that you can just buy one pot of each and try planting them in your tank, can observe how they grow and see which ones you like better, best way to learn about those plants.

    The irony for me is that I can never keep the cheap plants alive for long. Most have a tendency to need high light, trimming and fertilization and I'm too lazy. Guess I'm the crypt and fern kind.

    Some are are cheap because they grow very fast in emersed conditions in the farm.

    A pretty tough $1 plant thats a heavy root feeder is echinodorus behleri.
