I usually change my tank's water after their photoperiod in the late afternoon and don't replenish the liquid nutrients until the morning.

Want to know if they actually absorb nutrients during their "off" time ?

    Thank you.

Nope... Don't think so... When lights are off, photosynthesis stop and they would be resting

Don't think so too. When the lights are off, the only thing the plants will take in is O2.
