Hi, I bought 2 clown killifish yesterday from gc, and I think it is running out of stocks already. I house them together with my boraras brigittae. If anyone thinks this is a wrong combination, do let me know.
They are so cute I wish to get more. Is this fish not so common in Lfs? Which Lfs can I find them at?

Those fishes are fine to be kept together... just don't fill the tank all the way to the brim, as they are top dwellers and have a tendency to jump out easily when chased or startled.

Thanks a lot for the replies. Will they be okay without fans?

    Re: Clown killifish

Just updates for some fellow hobbyist looking to buy....Gc confirmed no stocks for the moment. C328 and y618 is rather far for me so if I'm going down I have to call first. I spoke to a Lfs nearby my place in tampines, maybe have stocks next Wednesday.

I've kept them a while back in a non-chiller tank, no issues encountered... they seem to be quite hardy fishes.

Thanks. Good to know that they will be fine in warmer waters! I have only 2 of them in my tank full of brigittaes but they are not shy at all. I have also covered my tank with many floating plants, to prevent the killies from jumping, so far they still look calm and not nervous, unlike I lost 2 brigittaes to jumping.

    Re: Clown killifish

Pseudepiplatys annulatus, or better known as Clown Killies, are not aggressive but can be slow eaters. Best kept with fishes of similar temperament and Boraras species are fine. Both are not picky with food and crushed pellets, plus occasional livefoods, will keep them quite happy.

Clown killies, like most fishes, can get skittish when newly introduced but it helps if the tank light is not the last light to go off. Keep ambient light on, so they get accustomed to the darkness, then switch off the other light (eg. in the hall)
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

    Re: Clown killifish

i kept two in my community tank along with tetras, mollies, cheery barb, SAE, Otto some cherry shrimp and amano.. Been keeping them for 2-3 years now, and wasn't expecting much but just notice a few tiny one emerge from nowhere. Just hope they can survive since the tank is heavily planted.
