To isolate or not to isolate?

On Friday night, my girlfriend and I was given a display of this Anabantoid's courtship dance.

Next morning, the female is separated and the male is left on guard.

This evening I noticed the eggs have hatched, and the male seem to be eating the fry. Well, I'm not sure if it's actually eating them, or just collecting those that swim away from the nest in its mouth, the way it did with the eggs.

I am loathe to disturb anything although the girlfriend is asking the nest to be netted out.

What's your advise O collective experience of the internet?
    Warm regards,

    Lawrence Lee

Male gourami got hungry and left the nest to look for food. Molly came along and took some fry away. A whole school of lampeyes got attracted to the commotion, and before the father can return to defend the nest, most of the fry were eaten.

The father returned to an almost empty nest, and started to eat what is remaining.

    End of story.
    Warm regards,

    Lawrence Lee

    Hi,

where'd you get the female croaking gourami? I've only seen males on sale at the LFS.

    thanks

Male and female look almost alike. Some say the dorsal of the male is more pointed and has some thread like endings, while the female has a rounder dorsal.

I can't tell the difference in mine except the males are smaller than the female. I bought a school of 7 fishes and it so happens that this couple paired up.
