    Hi all,

My problem is that I bought a bag of Aphyosemion calliurum 'funge' on aquabid that won't hatch. I've already searched this forum a bit, but couldn't find any answers (besides a oxygen tab, but thats more for bellysliders right?). I poured the eggs up yesterdag around dinner-time, but at the moment I only got one juvinile. I look at the eggs with a magnifier, and saw that the eyes were developed. But now, 19 hours later, still got only one fish. Tried the forced hatching method in Wildekamps book 'Killifishes'* (not sure the right English titel): blowing gently with straw some air in the water and quickly closing the litter of the box. The CO2 should trigger the fry to hatch according to the book. Sadly, it didn't. The fry that hatched is swimming and already ate some newly hatched brines. Any idea's how to get the other fry to hatch? It's my restart with killi's. Well not exactly, still have some pairs/trios in permanent set-ups at my room, but breeding was not a priority due to university. Besides that, I haven't got any experience with peat incubated eggs of non-annuals (no experience with peat incubation at all, only bred some non-annuals and always used water incubation or the natural method). Can someone give me some advice what I did wrong? Or if the thread already exists, post a link.

    What have I done:

Looked if the eyes were developed with a magnifier.
Poured up the fish with tapwater (aged for 24 hours, we got no chloride in our tapwater).
    Waited.
    Waited.
    Watched a football match.
    Watched a movie.
    Waited.
Finally after 5 hours one egg hatched. He is still the only one at the moment..

    Many thanks in advance!

    Jeffrey

Put the eggs that are definitely eyed up in a test tube.exhale and cap it quickly.the carbon dioxide should trigger it.

Or maybe they are just not ready yet.

Thanks. If they aren't ready, should I leave the eggs in the water or do I need to dry them again and wait a day or two?

    Dry it (Y) .

Another method is to place the eggs in a small container or something that can be placed in your pocket, then, go for a walk or something to stimulate the hatching of fries

Wel no success at all. Did dry the peat a bit and picked all the eggs out. Only got like 5 eggs that were developed...

Yes, done that more than once.

The lone surviver looks good. It swims and eats good, but too bad you can't breed with just one haha. If it survives gonna try find a mate at KFN, although haven't seen anybody offer them before..
