    Hi all,

I am not too familiar with fishes and need advise.

I saw a small white spotted black sucker fish at a LFS near Keong Siong at Havelock. It would cost me $30.

    1. does this fellow grow fast? (need a dwaft type)
    2. will they eat my plants?
    3. izit difficult to keep? (mortality)
    4. I like the look of it but what else this fish does? (like eat dirt, aglae)

    thanks

My fellow ADA fan, it sounds like a pleco and I would not advise you to get a pleco for your planted tank.

There are L series and LDA series. Perhaps the LDA series like 25 would suit your tank better. There are many algae eating species.

The spotted sucker fish seems to be L102 Snowball Pleco. Maybe grow till 6" or so.

But I did not recall Amano saying that we need sucker fish?[/img]

    Hi,

Wow! really something to learn, what is this L... series stuff? Ya...Amano said many things... but all in Jap, me no understand. Only find their stuff interesting and ATTRACTIVE. I was told that most of this pleco are vegetarians. Only some are not. Me itchy hand lah...saw this spotted fellow and may want him to be in the 20cm cube which can have only few fishes.

20cm? Better not bro... the L series thing is a naming system set up for plecos... because there are so many of them, scientists cannot possbily name them all, so they developed this L number thingy.

    Let me learn maths again.

Tank size = nano size = 20 cm

Fish potential size = 16 cm

Space to move = 4 cm

    Plants = All destroyed

Most Plecos are vegetarian but never the pretty ones eating algae. Will suggest some to fit your tank.

Yup...it is only 20cm, that's probably the only ADA tank size I can carry back from Tokyo. I was there for holiday and saw it. Real beauty (in the sight of the beholder) broke my pocket. That's probably the only thing I got back from there. As much as I can remember

Not many fishes can go in them, especially those that love jumping!

The pictures are available at my www. (last 3 pictures) hope can access to it. click below...

    Hi,

Ai ya...i did not make it clearer, it is the ADA 2ft not the 20cm cube. Got it replaced, finally a pair now. The first three pics are 2 ft and last 3 are 20cm cube. Just rescape the tank and will need a update soon once the plants are fuller.
