    Hi guys I'm new to planted tank. Did a low tech tank so I'm looking around for liquid solution. Many suggested seachem flourish. Any feedback?

    I see there is also seachem flourish excel so which is better?

    hi there and welcome to the low tech club

    1) Seachem flourish contains mainly micro traces, which the plant will be needing in small amounts.

    2) Seachem excel on the other hand is an alternative carbon source (dosed in place of c02, although not as good as c02 dosing itself).

    You might want to use them both if you like. The excel can be dosed daily (because they can only remain active in the water column for 24 hours) , while the flourish can be dosed weekly, depending on your tank setup.

    Will dosing of those affect water parameter and shrimps?

    i keep shrimp too and there's so many discussion on these online. many people are saying it's shrimp safe if you dose half of what is required but i'm not taking the risk.

    thanks for the explanation bro! but still, if i'm going to just go for 1 of it, which one should i go with?

    Your meaning of not taking the risk means u will only dose half?

    If you planning to go with one, can just grab flourish because you can still play with DIY co2 when the need arises.

    Overdosing fertilizers and especially excel in shrimp only tanks may have effects on the shrimps. Thus, it is always encouraged to dose lower than the recommended amount and see how the livestock respond
