I planted this about 3 weeks ago in a tank & seems growing. It has really small leaf compared to glosso next to it. The emersed plant can be easily found in somewhat wet soil & often shaded area.

You can commonly find it in cracks in the concrete floor or between the stones in a car parking lot. Lots of them in the parking lot in front of Y618.

My copy of A Guide to the Wildflowers (i.e. weeds) of Singapore indicates that this is Pilea microphylla, a member of the nettle family. The sappy plant I recalled is another species. P. microphylla originates from South America (another alien!!!) and has no known submersed form.

Interestingly, there are several genera of common local weeds listed in the book which are known to have aquatic species..... e.g. Lindernia, Alternanthera, Cyperus, Hydrocotyle and Ludwigia. Don't ask me liao, go buy the book instead. And dont' ask me where to buy and how much either. I hate those questions.
