oh I see. I was told by a staff is QH that usually those honey gourami are all males. was wondering how to identify a female or perhaps anywhere that sell them in pairs. thanks for your information, sheng!
Don't think the QH staff is telling you the correct information. Most of the honey gouramis sold in lfs are too young to be sexed. The trick is to buy 3-4 of them and hopefully there is at least one pair. Males usually have pointed dorsal fin and female round dorsal. Hope these helps and good luck!
Oh! They are of the same colour? Thanks guppendler!
Yes, when at juvenile stage, both male and female are of indistinguishable color.
oh... looks like I need to go qh again to have a look . thanks for your info!
Bringing back an older thread. I was told by the LFS at Marine Parade that all his honey gouramis are males and they never get females. How ah....I like to know my fish have a chance of breeding. Is there no chance to get females?
For dwarf gourami I know usually the lfs will only have males. For honey gourami, when they are young both sexes are quite hard to tell apart. LFS usually bring in juvenile honey gouramis that are still too young to sex, so the trick is to buy 3-4 of them and there would be a high chance you may end up with at least a pair. I had personally bred honey gourami before many many years back
