There are only 6-7 issues of English Aquajournal (vols. 33-38 i think), which stopped publication for some years already (maybe people then didn't think it was worth paying for....), but you can get them from some LFS like NA Nature....

the ongoing series is the Japanese edition, which features newer Amanoscapes, technical report, hobbyist tanks (mostly Jap) and field trips.... don't think it's possible to say which issue is must-have... they each have a different theme.

    nope, those are old issues

there is a particular issue with an article on how to trim/maintain the plants, which I think is a must read, also one on how to achieve irregular terrain with riccia (applies to moss as well). Every issue have something interesting to read about.. recommend getting that limited number of issues and read over and over again

For those interested in the Japanese issues, I saw them at Nature Aquarium along Thomson Road the last time. Great pictures and very good quality publication. Too bad I don't read Japanese.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Read the earlier posts again... and ask the LFS for the prices yourself.

Aquajournal has English editions only from issues 33- 38.

Issue 33 focuses on stem plants.
Issue 34 is on rocks and placement techniques.
Issue 35 is about fishes of Borneo
Issue 36 is about hairgrasses, and the plant pruning article is there.
Issue 37 talks about fish and plants compatibilty.
Issue 38, the out-of-print one, and everyone is looking for it. It talks about Riccia.

Issues 33 to 37 can be found at NA. Issue 38 is not sold, although Mr Chan has a personal copy to show you if you request.

imo, one should get the whole set with 38 if possbile, damn good advice and bloody interesting.

In my personal opinion, if you are interested in browsing through the japanese version, Issue 107 features the entries of the ADA competition 2004.
