When I bought this plant, it was green.

I have planted this plant in two different tank, one having about 1.5WPG and another 2.5WPG.

I noticed that the one with the lower light & temperature (27deg), has pinkish tips on the newer growth and the length of each leaf are longer than the one with the higher lighting. Whereas, the one with the higher lighting (temp 29)does not look as attractive, the leaves are shorter and light green.

Both tanks are using DIY CO2 injection.

Can anyone share their experience regarding this plant?

The green plant on the right.

The one for the lower light tank was replanted into this tank. After 1 week, the leaves turned green.

interesting looking rotala, as far as I know, rotala requires high light to get it to show the true self, like many other plants.. under low light situation they simple stay green

    I thought so.

However, in my case, my lower light tank had the pinkish tips on the Rotala. However, for this tank in particular (higher light, 2.5W), it remained green.
When I bought it, it was just growing emersed type leaves.
Could it be the tank temperature?

I don't own any test kit at all.

Should I just get one to test my Nitrate?
    Which one would you recommend?

I'd reccomend Aquarium Phareamtuicals (sp?), cheap and good according to what others say.
